Il tatuaggio ornamentale, di cui Marco Manzo è precursore e teoreta, che ridisegna il corpo femminile slanciandone le forme, esaltandone i pregi e nascondendo eventuali difetti, contiene al suo interno elementi di varie culture , dai pizzi veneziani agli chandeliers d’epoca vittoriana, fino ai mehndi, ai mandala, ai dotwork, non con scopo imitativo ma proprio perchè senza aver fatto propria la tradizione è impossibile l’innovazione e la contrapposizione.

Marco Manzo ha il merito di avere portato per primo tatuaggio nei Musei d’Arte Contemporanea, nelle loro collezioni , nella grandi mostre , elevandolo ad una credibilità istituzionale parimenti alle arti cosiddette “maggiori” e segnando una nuova tappa nella storia dell’arte, come dichiarato nel comunicato stampa della Farnesina, Ministero degli Esteri, lanciato dall’ Ambasciata d’Italia a Kabul che dice:

“L’artista italiano che ha introdotto il tatuaggio nel mondo dell’arte e che è reduce da una personale al Vittoriano di Roma, è impegnato nella preparazione di una istallazione di denuncia del femminicidio e della violenza contro le donne per la Biennale Arte di Venezia 2019 – Padiglione Guatemala, a cura di Stefania Pieralice, che si aprirà il prossimo maggio.”
